I have a 95 3.8L v6 mustang. Just blew reverse. Decided to do a motor and tranny swap v8. (got a good package deal) The motor/trans is from a 86 GT. Comes with motor mounts from the 86. Never done a swap before. Is there anything else i need besides motor, tranny, n mounts? Like ecu or harness?? All advice will b appriciated

 

Your probably gonna want to convert it to mass air. So you'll need the mass air components, a computer, engine harness, accessory brackets. Also you'll need the v8 coil springs if they're different from the v6 ones. Might want to check the gear ratio in the rear also. Those are some of the things off the top of my head.

 

Might as well go buy yourself a newer v8.

 

This. The '86 V8 performance potential is somewhat limited due to the heads and especially, the pistons. A V8 ECU and more importantly, 8.8 rear axle also required. May as well look at finding a complete donor 94-95 5.0 SN95 to do a conversion. Front engine accessory drive, intake manifold, and revised distributor (remote mount TFI) differences between Fox/Fox4 SN95 should also be considered.

 

How in the world do you blow reverse btw??

 

trying to go backwards up a hill. high rev in reverse and dumped the clutch. :/
