through the wheel well, does that mean i need new shock/struts

On that note do i HAVE the get the expensive ones or stocks ones will do just fine for daily driving?

By chance have you installed any spacers on your rims? I only ask because once I had used spacers and one of them got a little loose and that is exactly what it felt like.

So its a harsh impact over even small bumps? When mine did that the front struts were froze up and had almost no rebound in them. I replaced with stock monroes from the parts store and the car rides fine.

So the ride is too bouncy? Still worn out struts I say. I'm not familiar with s197s, does the GT/CS have a stiffer/sportier suspension over a GT? If so you'll need to look at the aftermarket like Bilstein, Koni, or Tokico. If you just want a normal ride retained then just buy monroes.

IMO, kind of a tall order to want a Fox to ride like a S197. I do have a set of Bilsteins waiting to go on mine, but I don't expect it to match what a longer wheelbase and a considerably solid chassis can accomplish in regards to ride quality. If you can help it, avoid the Motorcrap OEM replacements - the after market ones are usually better. Probably more cost-effective too.

800 bucks??? maybe for koni DA race struts... I think a full set of koni sport yellows run five hundred and change. A good choice for you would be tokico HP (Blues), under 300 bucks for a complere set from LRS but thats for 5.0s. Being that you have a 2.3 I don't know what options you have, if you only want to restore a stock ride just get monroes and be happy, kybs aren't going to do anything for you but in the end its your car and your choice, just my .02

Try checking online at sites like the one for Parts America. For example, it lists some Monroe struts/shocks for your application at reasonable prices... If you print the page, and they have the part in stock locally at a affiliated store - they'll match the Parts America price. I tried that and it worked - saved a bit on some replacement items (bought RP synthetic motor oil that way since it was the cheapest way to get it in my area!)

Just buy standard Monroes from Advance, Autozone or whatever.....I can't stand the KYB's for the newer cars....gas adjusts are OK for the vintage stuff but I have been VERY disappointed in the ones for the newer applications.

For a rear swaybar just buy a used V8 one...far cheaper than an aftermarket and will do wonders for the car if it never had one to begin with.

Don't just catalog shop....do what you are doing here and ask people. The companies that just sell parts are not going to tell you what is good or not...they will just take your order and a lot of times the salesman has no real world experience with the car you are working on.

My goal is not to have my car look like a low rider when my wife and kid sit in the car.

its easy to do yourself, you'll need an impact wrench to take the bolts out but other than that its a pretty straight forward installation

usually springs themselves don't go bad but the rubber isolators do, its up to you to decide if you want new ones or not
