OIC, i thought using a filter for it would make it safe, seems like it wouldnt, so i would be better off just leaving it alone? btw, Nice Trademark

well guys i think i've decided to toss the supercharger idea until i'm in college...instead i'm gonna drop a band new 5.0 crate motor with 285 horse from the shop and the port and polish the intakes and line up the valves with the heads
after i'm done i'll have droped 3300 like i said and have about 350 horse with 3.50 gears for ok gas milage mainly because my engine has 120,000 and i'll have 144 more horse in and a more reliable engine

i'm gonna buy a 285hp crate engine with gt40 heads
-buy cobra intake
-line up intake and heads and port them out to match
-port and polish intake and heads
-buy some hooker or bbk headers
-full flowmaster 1 chamber catback exhuast no catilitic convert.
-mac cold air system
-balance the engine (maybe if i get extra money)
-3.73 gears

Crate engine is a little vague. Is it a 302 crate motor? If so I would guess 275 to 295 at the rear wheels. No way a 302 is gonna hit 325 rwhp with that set up, unless you are running REALLY high compression, and even then it would be hard if not impossible with gt 40 heads. Seriously, gt40 are pretty bottom of the barrel when it comes to mustang heads.

Most likely that set up will put about 260 to the wheels. If properly tuned you might see about 275rwhp. I am running the same crate motor. With that crate motor and a SC-trim supercharger (5psi) I make around 350rwhp on a Mustang dyno. That would be around 375-385 rwhp on a dynojet which most dyno shops use. Mustang dyno numbers usually run 6-10% lower than dynojet numbers.

If you are looking for 325rwhp don't go with the gt40 crate motor. Get you a CHP 306 shortblock for around $1800 and put a set of AFR185 heads on it for $1250. No mater how you look at it you are going to go over $3300 for that HP unless you just want plan on spraying it. My friend used a NX wet system 100hp shot and made 305rwhp and 425rwtq on a totally untouched bone stock 91 mustang through the factory cats and mufflers.

and i dont know what you guys are talking about because the crate motor i'm looking at is running gt 40 aluminum heads and is retaining 345hp without an intake

345 hp rating on the Aluminum GT40 crate motor is crank hp not rear wheel hp. That motor should put around 290 to 300 hp to the wheels. The bad thing about the Ford GT40 crate motors is they come with hypereutectic pistons instead of forged pistons. This means they will not hold up as well to a lot of boost or nitrous. Most Ford GT40 engines were rated using an Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake with a 680cfm carb which would be about the same as using a GT40 intake. The carb will tend to make a little more hp but the EFI will do better on the torque side which is what you want if it is a daily driver. As for aftermarket heads on a daily driver car my #1 choice would be AFR, #2 TFS twisted wedge, #3 Brodix, #4 Holley sytemax, #5 Edelbrock, #6 FRPP GT40.

I personally wouldn't run that much boost on hyper pistons. All it would take is a little detonation and the motor would be history. CentralCoastMustang.net sells several crate motors with forged internals for around the same price with much better heads and cam. www.dssracing.com has some nice crate motors for a little more and have a good reputation for reliable motors. 5.0 Magazine has been using a CHP streetfighter engine to do their intake dyno test. They sell a 306 with forged internals for 1699.99. After you pick up a cam, heads and roller rockers you would be in the same price range as the GT40 motor and be making more power. Their website is www.coasthighperformance.com Shop around, they're a lot better motors than the GT40 out there. I regret getting my GT40 crate motor instead of the D.S.S at the time. That is the reason I am only running 5-6psi boost. If I would have gotten the forged motor I would have already swapped pulleys and be running 10-14psi.

a 302 is a 5.0
The best heads imo are AFR or TFS Twisted Wedge
