Hit a deer.. (56k warning)

Well, it happened way back in January and left me stranded for a few days in Mississippi. I purposely held off on the photos til I had it repaired:

Ouch...always sorry to see stuff like this. The repair/repaint looks great though.

Really the worst part was all the stuff you could not see that was damaged- right before the trip, i had just replaced the coolant, the fan (an actual OEM Ford), the fan belt, did an oil change, as well as getting brand new Continental ContiXtreme Contact tires (although not RWL, i was looking for better wet traction). Also the lil pony emblem i had mounted on the grille had its tail snapped off and my aftermarket driving/fog lights also bit it. About 300 miles into the trip is when I hit the deer. Caught it in mid leap as it was running from left to right.

Glad it's fixed. Curious - why didn't you have the hood painted to match after the collision? Or do you like it better white?

As far as the hood, it goes back to when I bought it, the hood had already been replaced by the PO. I guess I got so used to it, I went as far to make it a point to the bodyshop to keep it that way. Wouldn't be the same otherwise, ya know?
After the hit, I was more upset about what my front end looked like and was uninjured. Thankfully I had enough presence of mind to pull off to the shoulder of the road even though my engine died (mostly because the radiator got smashed into the fan).

"Caught it in mid leap as it was running from left to right."

Anyone who say's it's hard to hit a moving target never hit a deer with their car.

Reminds me of the time a deer ran into my sisters car. instead of hitting it as it ran across the road, it ran into her car at a good clip and rolled down the side of the car. Took off the sideview mirror and side trim on the passanger's side. Never said a word to anybody when she got home. So when my dad was walking by her car to leave for work he saw the whole side of the car smeared with blood and fur with no mirror. He though she hit someone and took off. After running into to house to find out what the hell happened, he was told in a rather annoyed 18yr old teenager voice "it was only a deer, geez."

Owww - that sucks. Glad to see the car fixed and shiny again. Built Ford tough! I trust you had plenty of venison for the remainder of your trip?
My cousin ran into a deer once (the island of Lanai has wild deer, turkey, and pheasant BTW) and my uncle got upset because not only was the front of the van smashed, my cousin didn't bring the deer home!
