Hi I'm New!!!

My son purchased a 1989 5.0 recently. The transmission has gone out!! After we got it pulled they told us it's out of a 4 cyl!! Not having much luck locating something reliable. Any suggestions???

Is it an automatic? If it was a T5 I'd say rebuil it yourself it's so easy. If it's an auto, I would.try some junkyards. Not sure what.other cars have the same tranny.

4cyl T5s are weaker ( due to the gearing and input shaft) and don't live long behind the V8 and once modded even mild or rear gears are added the life is even shorter. look for an '89 and up WC T5 they have the updates. also when changing to the V8 T5 you need to change out the pilot bearing, the V8 uses a different pilot bearing vs the 4cyl.

This will help you identify T5s ( they are not all the same)
