Help a Mustang noob out !

What up ! I'm J from Detroit...and soon within the next few months, I plan on buying a Mustang. I want anywhere from a mid to late 80s - Early 90s Notchback Mustang, with an V8. The main goals of mine is for when purchasing the car is for it to have a clean interior. An clean exterior paintjob even though working a few months of having it I will get it painted. Now to be honest I know nothinggggg about engines. I know the Mustangs usually come with an 302...or not? An maybe an decent exhaust system until I get a different one. Probably manual, but if automatic is the only option I'll take it. And for my favorite part....My budget is going to be around $2500-$4500. I would really hope for it to be around 3. Do you think my goals are realistic? Can you give me some tips for buying? Like what to look for, what not to, etc.

And I really like car parts for some reason but my engine knowledge is terrible. What does stroked mean? Does it mean like upgraded to? What is an good engine number to look for? And what about horsepower, what is a decent amount when first buying, and how can I increase it. And lastly what is a good exhaust set-up that is loud but not toooo loud?

And hopefully I could get a '90-'93 but I think my minimum is '87 for sure...

If you are looking for an 87-93 V8 you would be looking at the 302- it is a 5.0L with 225HP for the standard stock motor. There is a ton of things you could do to up the horse power, what range are you looking for?

Stroked basically means that a larger stroke is used in the engine to up the power and displacement of the motor- so yes it adds power.

I am not sure how clean of a car you are looking for, but with a clean interior, clean exterior, strong running car, and clean paint you are way under what most are going for. I have seen many as you described here on this site for around $7k. I'm thinking for $4500 you could have a nice 2.3L that runs decently and has decent paint.

3 years :O

But what products did you buy from Flowmaster? And have you heard anything about Loudmouth exhaust or something like that? I was listening to this video on YouTube of a Mustang and it sounded good!
