Shouldn't be too hard. You would need a front and rear clip from an LX. The rear exhaust section for an LX as the GT has turndown rear tips. Lastly the molding pieces from the LX for the doors. Check out 5.0 Resto.com if your looking for new parts. There may be other small changes that need to be made but nothing drastic. My question to you would be why would you want to make a GT an LX???

well my fav style of the foxes are the lx sedans. in addition to saving a couple of lbs from the lack of ground effects, lx bodys have a cleaner look to me. my car doesnt have tail pipes at the moment but i plan to run them all the way out which will look better with a lx rear bumper. i did think about goin with the cobra rear bumper. lx look has more of a muscle car look which is what i like versus the sports car look of the GT body parts.

That's cool. I was just curious as to why some one would want to go and spend the money to convert a GT over to an LX. If you use used parts you probably can do it with out spending a ton of money. Prestige Mustangs out of Georgia is a good place to start. They are a Mustang salvage company and should have all they parts your looking for.

Would you keep the GT spoiler or get an lx one? Or ditch both and go for another style? And im assuming youd go for the lx taillights. Keep in mind all of this stuff is gonna have to be painted.

Is that hood a lift off or a rehular one? Havent seen too many 4" ones that arent lift off, but i like em.

I don't think the GT bodykit weighs enough to make a real difference in street performance from the LX, but I don't know.

Forgot about the head/tail lights and the rear spoiler. I personally wouldn't do it, too much work and the money could be spent on other things. That's just me though. If you like the look of the LX and this is what you want to do then go for it.

mines a latch style hood....i thought about doin it a few times. if i ever do it id leave the same spoiler on it. i dunno what ill end up doin. might do just do the cobra mods, rear bumper, side peices, and maybe the spoiler. im gonna change tail lamps on my car for sure. the louverd look doesnt do it for me lol

You're not the first one I've heard say that they dont like the louverd look...I really don't understand why though....I like them myself, IMO of course. I always say though....."It's not neccessarily what someone else likes, what you like is what matters"

It's not as easy as everyone thinks....I've done it....several times. Unbolting the parts and installing the LX parts is the easy part....it's all the holes left in the body that is the difficult part and in order to do it the right way, they must be welded up.

Along the fender, rocker and quarter panel in between the wheels there are metal brackets that you must remove and what you have left is a ton of holes that must be filled.

Other than that you have to remove the 2 drop down brackets that support the rear bumper cover(2 rivets each) and you must remove the front foglamp bracket and lower support brace. You will have to get all the LX mouldings since the indented stripe is smaller than that on the GT.

I've thought about swapping out my GT parts for the LX parts. You see other cars and your like man mine would be so cool like that. But, then you see those cheesegrater taillights on the road, they look so cool and they look so different. My brother wants me to put the LX taillights on, why it won't be a GT.
Three things that I'd love to do.
1. I'd love to run the tailpipes straight out through the rear clip. (Can that be done)
2. I'd love new wheels. I hate cleaning those rims. It takes FOREVER.

And the third...?

I have had all the exact same thoughts with mine. We have an lx too and someitmes i think it looks pretty sweet but overall i like the gt more. I was thinking about the straightpipe thing last week but then youd have to repaint the edges, might not look good mixing and matching it up. As for the rims, i completely agree, takes too long to clean rims with a toothbrush so last week i picked up some cobra rims. Im still curious if anyones done a straightpipe gt or got any pictures of one.

I've seen several GT's around here with the pipes coming out the bumper and most of them are horribly done to begin with. I saw one that was done right and looked OK but I think a Cobra bumper would be better. The bad ones looked like they used a dremmel or something to cut it out and the pipes were too close and started melting the bumper.

I guess I can't count.
Third thing was I want to shave off the door handles.

I was worried about the pipes melting the rear clip. My thought would be that it would have to have some sort of bezel to make the cut look clean. Then there's the problem with the pipes rattling if the holes are cut to close.

I had another thought this morning about changing the GT to LX. If you take off the ground effects?? Aren't you kind of going against the style today....ie the Roush and Saleen???

Plus, Why change for the sake of change??? If I was going to rip off the skirt all the way around and have to repaint it. I might as well weld a trunk onto the rear end and make it a 5.0 LX notch back.
Cause you have to admit THAT is a cool looking car.

Got any photos of the Cobra rims on yours???
I'm looking for ideas.

I dont actually have the Cobras on right now (beauty of living in the Great White North :moose: ). Snow tires are on, so there will be no fun till spring, but i found pics of close to what it should look like with cobras on it, but mine aren't chrome like these, theyre just aluminum. http://www.elitecrew.net/stang/stang.jpg I think it looks pretty sweet, can't wait till summer.

Hey Scott,
How much did you pay for those???
And where did you get those?? Those look great.

What do you think of that Cenerforce Clutch??? I've heard that it's a little heavy.

I picked em up from The Mustang Shop here in calgary for $580 (about $500USD) for the set. I just bought em now cus theyre blowing them out really cheap for some reason. http://www.themustangshop.ca/site/ Shipping might be expensive to your area though, i know theres a few guys on here from the nashville area, any of them should be able to tell you a good place if you want something a little closer.

And the clutch is VERY heavy. Big time left leg work-out in stop and go traffic. I like it though, dont really have to worry about wrecking it.
