I just bought a used fender, hood, and front bumper from a local junk yard for my 88 lx. The pieces are in great condition, and fit perfect. I only payed $250 cnd, was that a good deal?

 

Yeah! sounds like you got a good deal if you can just bolt them on and GO!

 

Considering a fox body door alone can go for 250 bucks I definately think you got a good deal.

However, with patience (you may or may not have?) and a stockade fence around your back yard. The wonderful world of impound auctions could net you the entire car for 2 or 3 hundred bucks. But than, I realize not everyone can do this. Esp if you live in an apartment or such

 

Wow, I wasn't aware that you could get them for that cheap.

Fortunately, those were the only body parts in "not so good condition". Next thing on my list is to get the old paint off. Then, i'm getting it painted. Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to get old paint off?

I was also hopeing to get wheels, but i'm not sure if i can afford the 4 to 5 lug conversion as well as wheels... so it looks like im going to have to find myself some nice 4 lugs.

 

I have had good results using Circa 1871 (or whatever year they use in the name) paint stripper. It is presented as furniture stripper, but it works on any paint. It is good for the metal, but I have never used it on plastic surfaces, so start with a small corner on the bumper and see how it reacts.

Just slop it on, wait a while, then wipe the paint off.

 

make sure you use rubber gloves, and put it on very easily. I got a very very tiny splash in my eye one time, and washed it out with cold water immediately. It burns. I was lucky. Yes it works!

Its gonna have to wait awhile probably cause im back to school now. And working on the weekends. But i'll look into that, any idea on a rough price? Or is there anything else i'll have to do?
