It could of been, but it isn't/wasn't The car was bought mint and tubbed and built into a low 9 second 1/4 mile killer.
I'll agree that it is a waste.....if you want a 1/4 tubbed race car then buy a GT or LX and build a clone...that car now no matter how much invested is no longer a Cobra and will never hold a candle in value to one still intact. All he did by tubbing that car is make the remaining Cobras worth more money.

I've seen a '96 Mystic Cobra tubbed into a Race car with a pushrod V8 in it....another waste...paint would have been cheaper and start with a V6 car....I also witnessed one of the '93 Cobra R's turned into a drag car...even more of a waste. This car had 317 miles on it and the owner was installing a drag cage and already had a supercharged 331 in it with a Vortech and an automatic...why do that to 1 of 107 made when you could have done the same thing with less $$$ outlay out of a GT or 4 cyl car?!?

To each their own but In my opinion it shows stupidity to ruin a car with collector value and rarity in that way when you could have had the exact same end result with less money spent in the end and end up with the same value in the end too.

But again, my opinion...others are sure to vary.....Not my money wasted

You know the truly sad part about the car isnt just that its chopped up. Its that its a tubbed car that only runs 9's. Looks like it must be a bracket brawler.

look at Jim Blair he has a 1600hp 95 cobra r that runs 7 second 1/4s. The 93 is tubbed because it needs to be kept on the track with 900hp. wow, a 93 R turned into a drag car, I think i would of cried. That is a waste. A 93 cobra isnt bad IMO cuz they are more common. I have only seen pics of 2 93 Rs and it is at www.50resto.com and here. I love drag racing, but the best is one you have a replica instead of a nice car turned drag car. I know of a 96 mystic SALEEN that is tubbed and runs 9s.

Jim Blair's 95 R

I am sorry but a tubbed 9 sec car doesnt impress me. I would hope that with 900 hp it would run faster than 9's. I know my buddies car doesnt make anywhere near that and runs 9.30's maybe faster if it hadnt gotten on the bumper. Like stated thats a wast of a nice car. Complete waste.

Doing that to a real 95R is just as bad...the car was built for corners...I respect one raced in corners but turning it into a drag car could have been done with a V6 model.

Just like this car(pic taken at my shop)...Belongs to a customer of mine and I've driven it...and yes it's real...I would NEVER consider turning it into a drag car....it would ruin it....

hey, nice 2000 R. How many miles? daily driver? I am a firm believer that if you want a drag car buy a body in white or LX base car and build it from there.

I am still waiting to find out if you know who owns that cobra to confirm that its indeed real. Derrick Smith used to run pro 5.0 in what they called "fastest saleen" in the world yet it wasnt really a saleen. Tim Lynch was the same with his old outlaw car.

I have a 91 LX notch that I bought back in August. It has 140,000 miles on it and runs well although it could use some work across the board. Lately I have been knocking around the idea of transforming it into some form of drag car. I have never known anyone who is into drag racing so I know very little about it. Anyone have any advice? I know that is being very vauge but like I said right now I am just knocking around ideas for the car and I want to get some opinions. Thanks.

5.0 or 4cyl? If its a 4cyl go for it. If its a pretty nice 5.0 car. I would say make it into a really nice daily driver. Thats my opinion though. I hate to see when someone takes a really nice coupe/cobra or any v8 car and make it into a all out tubbed race car.

It's a 5.0

Definatly a street/track car. I don't have the $$ for things like a trailer and all the other stuff that comes with a true track only car.
