Finally, I'm boosting my 92 GT. This week is spring break for me and it's a good time to do it. So, this week the supercharger goes on. Brand new Vortech S-trim at 10lbs, hoping for 11's this track season. I've got a couple guys from MotownMuscle helping me on the project so I'll be documenting the whole thing. I wanted to get dyno numbers before the install, but I don't know if that's gonna work out seeing as I'm already spending close to 3k on the SC system itself. We'll see though. After it's installed, I believe Scott at MRT is going to be doing the tuning. (As soon as I call him lol)

Might even go 13#'s of boost if I can get the 42# injectors and a good tune for high octane. Get rid of the FMU that comes with it and use a chip

OK, sorry guys, I know it's been a while since I've posted about this project, but I had some "Technical difficulties". I'm now back on this project and it's gonna be pretty exciting. The car goes on the dyno tmw (10-09) around 6pm. I'll be getting some base numbers before the S/C goes on, on Friday (10-13). Afterwards it will be tuned and another dyno pull will be done on that following monday.

I will be sure to keep you guys updated and be sure to take plenty of pictures.

This sucks, but sorry guys no dyno It was suppose to be on Monday, but the guy had a doc appointment and couldn't do it. I went back on Tuesday and he said he didn't have anyone to help him run the dyno, so i won't be getting any "before" numbers, because he went in for surgery today and won't be back until maybe next week and the S/C goes on Friday.

dude, that is sick! Ive wanted a supercharger on my 5.0 for so long... but i just dont have the money. I was doing a little research about them, what made you choose the vortech? I heard alot of people have them.... but i heard that procharger are also good choices? I cant wait to see the dyno numbers... this is a topic of great interest to me!

Thanks. I hear you, i've been trying to get this for about 3 years lol. Being the good guy that he is, Dave(owner of Nelson's performance) let me pay on it until I got it paid off and then ordered it for me. Really cool guy.

I went with Vortech, because of all the success I saw of people with similar cars and setups. It wasn't hard to make the decision when a couple of my buddys went 9's with them. I figured if the could get in the 9's then I could get into the 11's with mine being the way it is and a bit of suspension work.

I took the car out today and it makes a difference even with only 6lbs of boost. 1st gear is pretty much usless. Even when I let it shift into 2nd, then nail it, it gets tire happy and burns through the tires and this is at only 6lbs of boost....I plan on 13lbs

Holy cow man, that sounds amazing! Did you say how much money it cost? I always seem to ALMOST get there, and then i end up having to spend it on something else (transmission 2.2k, Bright Futures 2k) Such a pain when i cant hardly make any money while at school =(

I don't think I did, but it cost me around 2700 for the polished kit, you can save 200 if you just get the regular satin kit. I'm pretty sure I have more then that into it right now, but I opted to do an in-tank fuel pump (255LPH Walbro) rather then use the T-Rex pump that came with the kit (I'm not a fan of drilling holes in my car lol) I also went with 42# Injectors, Polished 70mm TB, Polished TB Spacer and a 75mm MAF.

That's what took me so long. I go to school also, so it's hard to get the hours you need to fund my car habit, but I'm lucky enough to make a decent amount of money to do some things.

So, I went to the tuner yesterday and tried to dyno the car, but it was running warm and the computer would have just kept pulling timing and we wouldn't have gotten a good reading.

Changed the thermostat to a colder one (180*) and went for it. Got the Dyno Results today and came out with 350 at the wheels. Which I think is great! Considering it still has the A/C, Clutch Fan and a stock 302, I think it's quite exceptional. Plus, he said there was still more in it, but because of my trans kick-down linkage was wrong, he couldn't get it to shift correctly for the dyno, but he said it's a rocket. Once I get the kick-down linkage correct we'll put it back on the dyno and see how much more power it makes.
