Im soon gonna buy a 91 GT from a friend and it has an AOD. I would like to swap it for a T5. What all do i need to do so and where might I find the parts the cheapest such as the tranny. From what ive read on the internet all i really need is


flywheel
clutch set (disc, pressure plate, throw out bearing, pilot bearing)
tranny with bellhousing
clutch fork
clutch cable
pedal set


If anyone has done this swap before please share your knowledge....

 

I just did the conversion by myself about 2 months ago... I have a few links for you to read but I am at work... I will post them when I get home. For starters, have a friend or two around when you put the tranny up to the bell housing... getting the bolts in is tough to do alone. And although the aod crossmember can be modified I suggest getting the one for the manual tranny.

 

AOD is heavy so be careful when you take it out. its a day job. Not that hard. Just time consuming. The hardest part is lining up the tranny when putting it in.

the write up is very detailed, has a parts list, and is graphic. you may wanna do a search or post on if someone can scan u in some pages from an actual ford shop manual T5 page if u need additional help....but alot of people say that page there is golden :worship:
