55mm to a 70mm Mass air meter

I recently got a 70mm Mass air meter from a 1993 cobra thru ebay,a nice unit to install in my 1992 GT 5.0,a bolt on procedure. The mass air meter is supposed to have been calibrated for 19lb and 24lb injecters, when I first start the car, its a rough idle then it smoothes out, when I rev it,sounds like varoooooom hiccup. I tried adjusting the timing, nothing . Hellllp! All suggestions greatly appreciated.

so you've got bigger injectors and a larger mass air meter, do you think your air/fuel mixture might be a little off after such a change?
and when you say varooom hiccup you mean it hesitates?

ok...im just a young car enthusiast that's just starting with cars(im only 14)...but i think that its something with the airfuel mixture, of course it could be something with the distributor, the wires(maybe they're out of order or something), the filters, hopefully its not a major thing

best of luck findin the problem!

sounds like its not calibrated right. cobras i believe had 24 lbs injectors. if your car only has 19lb injectors the mass air is sending the wrong info to the computer. and it probably causes it to run way to rich. ask SVOPAUL. hes the man on stuff like this

First off...a mass air meter cannot be calibrated for BOTH 19 and 24lb injectors....not possible.

Secondly....the '93 Cobra used 24lb injectors, the meter WAS calibrated for 19lb injectors and the computer made the 24's work properly. This is not an optimal computer to use...the A9L is a much better computer.

So the meter should work on your car unless it is bad. The problem with buying electronics from Ebay is that you are relying that the seller is being truthful...you could have easily gotten a bad or misrepresented meter from the seller. I would recommend deciphering the numbers on the meter to make sure what it is.

I would recommend using a C&L meter, you can swap sampling tubes for your injector changes if desired and it uses your original electronics.
