1993 notch 4cyl

Ok, so this chick has this mustang for sale that her daddy gave her. It's a 4 cyl notchback in pretty decent condition (not perfect but can be cleaned up pretty easy and cheap). It runs good and isnt falling apart, but she is prego and needs something bigger. She is selling it at a great price to me via friend. Now here is the kicker.... I don't want to upgrade to a v8 and I want to keep it as is till the motor blows or trans goes. I just want it as a daily driver. Am I crazy? The only non-v8 stang I ever owned was a 2000 lx when I was a teenager. Am I setting myself up for the wrong thing here? I promised my wife I wouldn't even think about modifying it since I have my GT. But are these cars even worth it without the 302 or do you guys think I will be able to keep my promise? If you guys think the bug will hit after the first ride to work then I won't buy the darn thing! Thanks!

My buddy had one of those and it was a slug. If you're anything like me - I don't like riding without reserve power. If the price is that good - buy it, clean it up and turn it.

Besides the whole speed/power thing, expect that a 20-year-old car as a daily driver will require a bit more maintenence. I joke around with my wife that my '88 is almost a new car with as many worn out parts as I have replaced so far. I'm not saying you will be under the hood every day or even every weekend, but problems will pop up here and there and that's just a fact with a vehicle that age- especially if it will be a daily driver. Good luck with the decision.

It's making more sense to not buy it, thanks for the reality check!

Any clean notch is worth buying. The 4 banger bodies are great for V8 swaps. How much and where is it located? Pics?

It's in SC, but she hasn't found anything yet to replace it so I'm still on hold. And I'd rate it a 6.5/10 on a cleanliness scale. It was a whole lot cleaner when her dad gave it to her. I don't have any pics, sorry, but it is the darker red with a grey and black interior and has a ding or two on the fenders. With the bullet hole wheels.
