1989 LX 5.0L purchased...questions

My older brother in Cincinnati just bought a '89 LX five-oh last night with these mods:

Underdrive pulleys
Mac off-road H pipe
Flomaster exhuast/Extra flomaster dumps
New brakes
Five lug front rotors and rear drums
Moser 28 spline five lug axels
96-97 mustang cobra wheels
UPR billet short throw shifter
Sub Frame connectors

His plans are to have it as a fun street car. Engine is stock with 100K on it. I suggested he get rear disks before anything...
Now, I live in Pompano and plan on visiting Steeda to get him some stuff, but would love to hear your imput on anything...

I've been out of Mustangs for a while- but don't hold that against me.
Thanks guys.

I'd hold off on the rear brakes for a bit, they aren't as important as the front. I'd do gears first, 3.55s should work great. Then get a 3G alternator kit

Ah...

Thanks Angelo, so I gather

This larger size improves upon: greater mass & surface for less heat build up, less current loss, higher amperage output when hot. Improved idle and slow speed output. Plus, the service duty and life increases substantially.

Is your brother on stangbangerz.com? (Local/Tri-State Mustang "club"/website in Cincinnati.)

I would go 3.73 instead.

He said he wants to keep it as a fun street car so thats why I suggested 3.55s, although theres only about one tooth difference between 3.73 and 3.55.

For the record, I love my 3.73s and don't mind the highway RPMs, but for anyone who wants slightly lower cruising revs 3.55s will still accelerate great. Just curious, why do you suggest 3.73s instead?

i put 373 in my 92 also. it was noticably quicky than my friends car with 355 and similar mods. and the rpms were only like 200 more than the 355.

Nice looking ride.

Do the intake (throttle body & plenum) and then some shorty headers.

Check the timing as it is usually retarded fromm the factory.

3.55's work best for day to day cruising.

Have fun.
