There were 5,828 GLX 2-DR notchbacks made in 82. The 2.3 was the standard base engine, but the fox body recognition guide doesn't list a turbo 2.3 for 82.

I see a listing for a 2.3 Turbo for 1981 but not 1982. Should be a carb'd draw through style turbo. The 5 speed is questionable to me, its been so long since I had my Turbo Pace Cars but I recall them being 4 speeds. The 5 speed did not make it's way to the Mustang until 1983.
It's a curious car but like the other 2.3 Turbo cars has not caught on much with the collectors out there.

No, not if it is original and IF it is an SVO engine then someone else put it in there other than Ford.
There is absolutely NO chance this is a factory SVO engine considering that Special Vehicle Operations didn't work on the SVO and putting it together until late in '82 and nothing saw production until late '83 as '84 models......Trust me, I know and have documentation to that effect

then what is a 2.3l turbo backed by five speed tranny doing in my car and it is stock. all web sites I have been to say T represents an svo engine.

The 2.3 Turbo started in '79...that doesn't make it an SVO engine.
I am telling you as FACT here and now that you do not have an SVO engine and transmission unless someone OTHER THAN FORD put it in the car. Think about it...the SVO did not even EXIST until 1984 and they didn't even start the program until 1982 so tell me how in the world your '81 has an SVO engine in it?!? That's right...it doesn't.
T represents a 2.3 Turbo in 1981...in 1984-86 it represents an 2.3 Turbo in an SVO....and not every source is accurate as I have seen both T and W designations mixed up in different books.
Believe what you want but I think I know what I am talking about when it comes to this area considering I am one of the founding members and board of directors for the SVO Club of America. I have all the documentation, experience and books in the world. Besides that common sense tells you that you could not POSSIBLY have an engine in your car that was produced 3 YEARS before said engine was even produced by Ford!
