Post What Engine Would You Go With

OK,
So the plates on the 69 vert run out tomorrow and the car will go into the shop for a lengthy resto. So here's the question....What engine would you go with? A Boss 302 convertible would be cool. The original engine is always good...oh the humanity...what to do !!???

1- Re-Build the Original 351w (4V - 290HP)
2- Put in a Ford Racing Crate 351w (400hp)
3- Put in a Ford Racing Crate Boss 302 (350 HP)

did anyone ever make a fiberglass lift off hardtop to adopt to the convertible body for the 69 ,.. i know kennyg has one for the 65 & 6 model .. what would the 69 look like .. and make it a boss or shelby .. all look good .. and keep the original engine .. just upgrade tp good aftermarket stuff

If the car is going through a true restoration I'd look at doing a 302 stroker and keep the original engine in the garage. If you aren't using the original engine currently then just go hog wild, but I would stick with the 302 base and keep externals stock looking. Modern 331/347s are more reliable and can produce more hp than you will want to use without significant auxiliary upgrades.

Im looking at this right now as well.(It fits into my budget) The good thing is I have some time before the engine goes in, but I still need to make a decision, both for my budget and for engine compartment design.

Ya the total turnkey price is $5,096.00. Not bad for 385HP/377lbs Torque.
