I have been continuing my search for that perfect gunmetal color (at least as I see it in my head) that I'm pretty sure I have landed on and I thought I narrowed it down to a color I have seen on a BMW/Volkswagon/Toyota (with just minor shade differences amongst them) that basically they call Blue Anthracite.

Today I learned that Ford is making a limited run of 145 T-Birds this month in their original medium steel blue metallic color. It is a bit more lighter blue than I imagined and less gray than I was originally thinking, but I have been looking at it all day and it is growing on me. Plus I like the idea of at least still using a Ford color if not an original Mustang color.

Try thinking of it with a black rag top and Mach treatments as well as the balck out tail panel and tell me what you think?

Modern colors on vintage rides are sometimes difficult to imagine. I think that is a great looking color. As far as the Mach treatement, are you talking about the black out hood, 69 stripe, etc? Would you stick with a black interior (you currently have black, correct?) That would be a sharp looking vert IMO.

Yes for the most part, Blacked out hood and tail panel, Black GT rocker stripe (or maybe a modified Boss stripe), Black top and interior, Shelby ducktail decklid and side scoops.

I have been trying to do a photochop but this is a tough color to get right and making the white top appear black comes out like a baby tried to do it with a crayon.

I've never seen one so far!

One of the original Classic Mods on Stangnet had a gorgeous Royal Maroon Mach, it looked spectacular to say the least. His name was Dave, drawing a blank on his handle right now I want to say it was simply "69mach" though) but I believe his car is in the cardomain website somewhere still.

Here is a 69 Mach for sale in Maroon (in the cars for sale section). The pictures aren't great, but should give you some ideas.

I like that T-bird color. Is it a metallic? If so, that might not look as good with the blackout treatment. Or maybe it would.

I took this picture over the weekend of a 1969 Mach.

You mean the 70' Mach? :stick:

Yeah I am still considering that T-bird color, supposedly the local dealer has one arriving next week so I'll see how metallic or not it is up close. I am thinking of doing the gloss black this time around instead of the flat black, it's easier not to have to wax around it and I think the Gloss would look Ok with metallic.

I like the bmw sparkling graphite metallic color and a porsche basalt black. Though these are both probably darker than you want to go.

Porch used ot haev a bluish hued one that was nice but I dont think they produce it any longer.

You may want to check your sources. The medium steel blue is a dedicated 05 color but I don't think it's limited. Although they don't make many of any color. It is a great color though, seen one several months ago and almost bought it.

I don't see the 'lime gold metallic' color in that chart of yours...
I've had enough of black cars , but that jade black looks nice.....hard to really appreciate it in the sun....
