Valve Adjustment

I have a 66 6cyl 200 and 4 of my spark plugs are oil fouled. we did a compression check on all the cylinders and it looked excellent. But it is popping out the exhaust. We our next step is adjusting the valves but i was wondering how to adjust them. Is there a special tool that you need? I have a shop manual but it is very broad and does not go into detail on the 6cyl. I was wondering if anyone here has first hand experence in adjusting their valves

Thanks

Jeff

Is it a hydraulic lifter motor? If so then there really is no need to adjust them unless they are going clackity clack clack. If its a mech lifter then break out the feeler gauge, get the specs and figure out where the heel of the cam is. If you have access to a haynes manual they might have the process for setting up the rockers for adjustment and the order you need to go in as you bar the motor over successively putting the lifter on the heel of the cam as you adjust each valve.
