*Updated* Arin's Uber "76" Mustang II Buildup
#141
There is a writeup in CarCraft magazine on how they built one on a small block 350 using a TPI intake.
With a radical engine combination like that, do your undergrad thesis on designing a custom intake plenum.
It would be tough with that engine combo, unless you were to get a single plane high-rise manifold and get bosses for fuel injectors welded in. That sounds like a handful.
If you happen to go the 351W route, you can purchase a GT40 manifold with the lower manifold for a 351. You can use existing fuel rails and goodies like that from the boneyard to reduce your costs.
Arin, think again about doing a 5.0L conversion. Just something to think about, the 5.0L motors in the explorers from the late 90's had cast iron GT40 heads on them. Throw in a lumpier cam and performance intake/TB, you will be making tons of power in that light car.

i have thought about the 5.0L but i really really wanna try making this "clevor" work. its really unique and you dont see it often, so i thought i'd try it.
as we all know, Arin needs to stand out. and just the allure of a 351W and aussie 351C heads combining my two favorite engines....
plus, i like the idea of a Boss type motor in a II

Only thing Id be worried about is making sure it makes the power and that it runs how you want it to. I mean, if you put a 5.0 in there, your all but guarenteed to have a blast, but what if something goes terribly wrong, and it costs a fortune?? Not to be pessimistic or anything, just thought this side should be discussed. However, Arin, do what you feel is best, and have fun doing it

Ok this is not a Mustang but my big bro put a 392 Chrysler Hemi in a 1954 Ford lots of welds to get it sitting proper but it screamed so what Arin is contemplating will work with time patience and Money. oh ps not bs he also put a 350 in his little MGB all these ideas when he was in the Army ? engineering I think.

but trust me, if there is a way to make this all work, i will find it if ego alone could build cars alone i'd have a 427 ci windsor with clevland heads EFI and twin turbos and have it run on pump gas already surely something of that magnitude isnt TOtally useless lol. you never know....
i appreiciate the concern though
and Ed, what is it with ppl and putting in engines that dont belong. if you want big displacement in a ford, just use a 351 based stroker, it can go to like 454 or something. some ppl lol
someday im putting a fox 2.3 into an impala JUST to **** some ppl off lol

Lucky ****!
That is one beautiful car
I wish I could have dropped by and seen it in person.
Make sure that your first mod to the car is taking off that darn fake chrome lining on the side :nono:

man that body molding was a Beotch and a half to take off. only one side done for today. my fingers hurt
stupid thingies. they put up a fight till the end, and now that they're off there are like 10 tiny holes on the side of my car. need to get that filled when i paint it...

Holes?!? Who would punch holes into a CobraII to put that molding on it?
Original equipment? I've never seen a picture of a II with that stuff on it
