Speedometer help Where to look first ?

Just got done putting a new T5 in my 1970 mustang. After is was complete all was well. Maybe a week later my speedometer went off the deep end LOL,

Details
New Cable and gear
All was well after new transmission

Now the speedometer is reading 60 mph stilling still. It dose move from time to time and seam to get lower after backing up. My thought is the problem is inside the speedometer its self and not the cable or transmission.

Any idea's would be of help ?

I'm leaning towards the speedometer. Being all mechanical on an older car like that, there is nothing external that would hold it to 60 when you are not moving.

I agree with you... And because is was working is still moving around I am thinking I may just need to lube something ...in the speedometer but not sure what or if it's possible LOL.

I've never taken a Mustang speedometer apart before, but I have taken the one in my Corvair apart to replace the odometer drive gear. It wasn't too hard, just took my time note where each screw went.
