I am working on fixing a few little things on my car, and my knowledge is limited, so maybe you guys can help me...
1) For some reason when I turn on my dash light, the dome light and light by my feet comes on, and obviously I can not drive witht he dome light on, but it is hard to drive at night when I can not see how fast I am going ect., why is this happening?
2) My gas gauge reads empty, all the time, what things could be wrong?
3) When I rev the engine the headlights become brighter, why is this?
4) I want to get rid of the 3 speed in my car for a 5, how expensive with this be, and where should I get the parts? (obviously I realize a new transmission is going to be expensive)
5) The clock on my dash doesn't work, the original one, why is this, do I need to buy a whole new unit?
6) What places do you perfer to go for parts, I am looking for a few things and wondered what people have had good experiences with? (Things like a tachometer, a clock if it needs replaced, other little things like that)

Your sender in the tank could be bad, or the gauge, or you have a short in the wiring. Most likely your sender is bad. They are avail in all the catalogs, and perhaps at your local NAPA (not sure about this, but if so, it will be cheaper there). Changing a sender is not a tough job, other than dealing with the fuel.

Your voltage regulator is lying down on the job a bit, is my guess.

A search for 'T-5 swap' and looking at www.moderndriveline.com will help you here. Expect to pay ~800-1200.00 if you do about all the work yourself.

I prefer NPD (www.npdlink.com), but CJ Pony Parts, American Pony Parts, Virginia Classic Mustang, they are all pretty good. Scads of national vendors to choose from.

Maybe you have the switch turned to far in one direction. They should only come on when you have the switch turned pass the click. Just a guess on that. If that is not it check the wiringing. If you were not the original owner (I don't think you are) you never know what has been done with the car.

I agree it could be the sending unit. There is a way to test it but I can not find the link for the site. You can do a search on Google or someone here may have it to pass along

I agree, start with your voltage regulator. Take the car to Auto zone (or local part store) and have them do a check on your electric system. That may tell you a lot

Contact a company called Mustang Plua. They are in CA and they are great. They will send you a free catalog with some write ups in it including the t5 swap

Take it apart and carefully clean it. make sure all the wiring is good and see if it works. Clocks can be hard to come by on the part swap market and you may be ahead of the game if you can fix yours
