I just finished installing real wood veneer on my dash for my '68 deluxe interior, what I did was buy a piece of Mahogany veneer and use the old wood sticker from my dash as a template. The veneer has a 3M backing and after cutting and trimming I applied it to the dash pieces. I then stained it with Danish Teak (a perfect match in color and grain with the original fake wood) and used high gloss urethane for the top coat, I am very happy on how well it turned out. It also compliments my Mahogany LeCarra steering wheel. The veneer is thin so it is very pliable and I was able to cut and trim it using an exacto knife and a dremel. All together it cost me $35, much better then the $200 that some Mustang places charge for pre finished real wood dash pieces. Now I just have to get more Magahony to do the overhead console.

very cool i plan on doing the exact same thing to my 69 somtime in the nest few months. i think mine will be a bit more difficult to do than yours was since i'll be doing a 69 dash, upper and lower consoles, deluxe door panels and quarter panels too. the dash will be the hardest part to do for sure since there are some pretty difficult curves especially around the instruments and the clock
