I am interested in learning about possible upgrades that would make the 289 engine more equal in power to the big block 390, or if it is even possible or worth the money to modify it. What have you guys seen/done to get more power out of your 289, and how much power can you actually get out of it?

H/C/I for starters. To be honest, it wouldn't take a whole lot to equal the power of that boat anchor. They weren't "all that".

BTW, that is Heads, Cam, Intake

How fast do you want to go (aka "How much do you want to spend")?

450hp from Ford
430hp from Roush
Already got a solid 289? Bolt one of these on!

Build it to the original 271 Horse Power, get a 4 speed, and 3:50 to 1 gears. Then you dont have to spend more money to make the rest of the car handle the power. And you have a nice setup.
