Question about suspension/alignment
Question about suspension/alignment
Hey all, I'm new to the board, and am a newly owner of my 65 mustang, car originally had a 200 and a 3speed auto, previous owner put a 4 speed and 302 into the car, and I've got another 302 that I'm rebuilding out of the car to swap in to at some point in the near future. My question right now is that I'm not sure what he did in the swap, as I've had to replace wheel bearings and ball joints already, and am having to do tie rods this weekend, but the car itself is going through tires every couple weeks due to a terrible camber issue. Would doing the swap of the front end cause the camber issue I'm having? And I'm running low on cash, so I was looking at shimming the car to adjust the camber, as the camber kit is $100 and then has to be welded into place. So if anyone can give me some suggestions, I would be greatly appreciated. Also, I looked for a suspension area, but couldn't find it.
^ This.
I just finished doing the front end on my 65. I replaced the uppers, lowers, and all of the bushings. I also had it aligned. To get you camber correct, you will need to Shim the upper arms.
My suggestion is to go to a alignment shop, one that specialize in it, not some lets put your car on the computer..(Hell most do not even go back to 65) and get it done. You will be happy you did.

Hi all, I'm having a similar problem. My 65 eats tire real quick too. The outer tire walls are gone but the insides are fine. I keep the pressure at 32 psi. I also 16s on it, but I took it to a friend and he aligned it buy had and by the machine. It rides straight, but he said I need a camber drop kit. Can anyone elaborate for me? I am also thinking of doing a thickets sway bar. Thanks
