I saw a 66 for sale on the way home from work today. Looked pretty nice was a darker blue with hubcaps. I was wondering if QP trim was an optional accessory? This car didn't have any on it. Or is there anything "special" about cars that didn't have QP trim? Just curious.

From what I have read, you could order a 66 with a thin pinstripe (same as a "C" stripe in 68, only a pinstripe thickness). This would replace the QP trim. I don't know if the option had a special name, but if you find a 66 coupe with original qtrs and no trim, it probably came this way.
I think the Sprint Specials in 66 came as described above, but I am not an expert.

Stopped by on my way home from work to check out the car. Only 4200.00. Has the 289 badges single exhaust. Interior looks ok. Checked out underneath from what I could see a few rust colored spots under driver side floor. Didn't see any pinstriping. Hipo cars had QP trim correct? I think I saw somewhere where they didn't? Wondering if this car has the bigger engine thats why I'm wondering.

Have you checked Brad's Timeline pages for this answer? You might have to read 64-66 to find out when and why but considering how much history he lists, I'd be surprised if there wasn't at least a clue to this in there some where.
