Just picked up a new item yesterday - a custom-fit A-pillar gauge pod for 65-68 Mustangs. Not sure if it fits the 'verts or not (Jay?). Neat item - holds 2 extra gauges.
Not listed on their website yet, but I bought mine from Tom Cruz at Delta Bay Mustang if anyone else is interested. He was also showing new trap doors for FB's (plastic or fiberglass(?)), and a new plastic "R-model" 6-gauge dash cluster for 65/66 - molded to actually FIT the opening in the dash! :spin:
Pictures coming soon.......

Pretty sure he is buying them from "Whizco". I ended up completing my one off triple gauge pillar housing. I'll probably stop there. I learned from doing retail that I really don't wanna do it too much again and definetely don't wanna be a manufacturer of a retail product

It's a secret!
Although a boost gauge would look good, that's probably not in the budget yet.... :bang:
Here's some preliminary pics. It butts against the winshield gasket in front, and is held in place by the windlace on the "back" side. I'm just holding it there for these pics, so there's some gaps.

Um, but they're crooked. They don't face the driver, they face the center of the roof...?
These sound promising though, got any pics of those?

I really haven't fitted it up well enough to make a good judgement on the angle. I'm sure more angle would mean more protrusion, so there's probably some degree of compromise. Worst case, adding Angle rings is a cheap easy fix.

Yeah, someone else caught it... the gauges are not facing the driver correctly. Whiz always seems to miss something or bungle a style item (speakers would look much better mounted from behind, not in giant growths on the front of the door etc )
Mber,
When I did the Autometer dash upgrade I had to drop one factory gauge. So I always needed a voltmeter. And now I also have a tranny temp. which is nice to keep on top of that with the new AOD and high stall 9.5" TC. Finally for the over-the-top element I pimped my ride with an Air/Fuel meter.

Just an update on my progress. The triple pillar gauge I fabbed up is complete and in the car. Like most 1st runs there are things I would do differently, I intend to fab up a cleaner version when time permits. For now though the whole dash area is looking pretty solid:

Looking good - something seems to be missing though! :drive:
How do you like the Air/Fuel gauge? I've been debating between it, a vacuum gauge, a volt gauge, or a clock for my two openings... Volts would be handy, but A/F & vacuum would be great tuning aids!

When the A/F gauge is finally active (still finishing up the new exhaust, which itself is another long story of a well known and respected manufacturer coming up short) it will only be narrow band, which does not make it the great tuning tool you would like it to be. It will basically confirm that I'm running rich... to get the real info you need to buy (big $$$) or make your own wideband setup: http://www.diy-wb.com/info.htm
Whatever you do, don't stick a clock up there of all things. I would put an oil temp. or definetely a vacuum gauge up there before that. Old school guys will tune and diagnose everything using a vacuum gauge.

When I get around to making another one I will document it more closely. I hate stopping to grab a camera and take notes when I'm making stuff.
In short I started with a universal pillar gauge housing from Pep Boys. Using a Heat Gun and a lot of trimming and glueing allowed me to conform it to the stock 67/8 pillar pad that is now mounted using 3 trim screws instead of the factory trim clips.
You can actually get somewhat of a photo feel from a number of the photos on my Web site under Updates...

Interesting! I haven't seen that many gauges since I last saw "Apollo 13"
