I just saw a 1967 Shelby GT500 that went for $250,000 at auction that didn't sound as nicely restored as this 1965 GT350 (recent Autoweek issue) so I suppose $360,000 for a top flite restored 1965 is probably not far from the mark.
Should we all blame Barrett-Jackson auctions for driving the price of the pre-1974 muscle cars beyond the reach of most folks?!?

its sick to think these are sooo expensive .... can you imagine paying the insurance on that type of purchase unless you are swimming in high six figure income.

Good Lord! I'd rather take that money and buy a newer car personally. (Like an 07 GT and mod it like crazy.) You can blame it idiots who actually cough up that kind of money for driving the prices up.

Great time to be an owner but a newbie looking to finally realize a dream and live it.......eh, not so much.
All I know is I'm glad I joined this hobby 6 years ago because I'm not sure I could these days, at least not without getting a project car in dire need of resucue instead of one ready to go. My car had pretty much doubled in that time, stock for stock that is.
The good part is it can't last forever and things will settle for the newbie, however, alot of folks right now with dollar signs in their eyes buying up cars and thinking a little work will fetch these prices at auction are in for a big surprise when the bottom falls out on them. Just look at how many cars have returned home from auction on Wrecks to Riches. Timing is everything!
