Here's the thing, I've got my '66 coupe w/ the 351W in it and need some advice/opinions on the best/best value steering setup. I've looked at Griggs, TCP, Flaming, and the new guys, Steeroids, but thats about it, looked at them. I need some input as to how they drive, ease of install(or not), and performance overall. I'm not looking for a powered setup, but if I have to, then I have to. Right now, I've got the stock setup w/ 620's(i think) that I've cut one coil off. Thinking of just rebuilding the original setup, but would like the precision of a rack and pinion. Not sure yet. Just asking so I can either start saving the money or spend it on something else. B)

Flaming has an appropriate name - as they get a LOT of it for their poor R&P fit.
TCP seems to be the easiest/best but most $$$.
Griggs is a complete front-end change - very involved.

Steeriods is pretty new, so there hasn't been much real-world feedback. You might also check Randalls Rack - it has some fans, but doesn't work with the Cobra oilpan..

Thanx, Bob. What do you have and how does it drive? I'm going to eventually completely redo the whole frontend (susp. and steering) but for now using the stock arms w/ '70 spindles and disks.

I'm actually "old school" manual box, with roller idler bearing and heim-jointed ends - It's adjusted pretty "tight", and works pretty well for me.
I spent all my money on suspension instead of steering.
Randall's has received good reviews from most folks - if I HAD to change, I'd look there first. Curious about the RRS stuff as well.

I chose to rebuild the stock stuff for a few reasons:

• I have yet to find a rack setup that didn't have to make one or many compromizes (fitment, turning circle, etc..)
• The price of the racks are just sky high.
• I actually like the feel and performance of the factory manual steering when it is in good condition (not worn out).

Blake, Very nice car, dude!!! Love the flames, and the interior is sweet!! Thanks for the infor on your setup, and I agree, the racks are way too expensive!! I'm just gathering info before I actually make the decision (at least for now). I've driven Mustangs w/ the stock setups and just wanted to know what everyone thought about the other setups. John
