need help please!!

hey guys i am trying to adjust the valuse in my sons 65 coupe ( 289 ) i have cut a extra set of value covers so that i can run the eng. and i have already changed 2 hyd lifters cause i thought they were bad and now i can't get the peck out when i adjust them down a little the peck goes away then comes right back and when i goo too far it starts to smoke a little ,,, do you think i have more bad lifter's we just rebuilt the eng in jan this year anyone have anything to add ???

Probably not sure what "values" or "pecks" are. Sometimes it takes more than a day for a response on these sorts of questions. Hang in there.

I did a 302 Clevland yrs ago and when I did the lifters new I put a drop or two of tranni oil on them until the oil was picked up and circulating , then I tightened them down with cover off again untill the chatter stopped. not sure if this even helps.
