I have a question concerning the original Mustang platform code. The 94-04 cars were coded SN-95 and the current platform is the S-197. Did the first generation have a platform code that was used during its development? I apologize as this is probably an ignorant question, but my knowledge of the older cars is very limited. Thanks for your help!

The platform codes were letters based upon the options...for example theres K code C code J code etc....basically different options based on the code of the car...

First ones were called T-5. In fact T-5 was what they were called in Germany because the name "mustang" was already in use.

You are refering to codes while the original poster was refering to Ford internal project names. See the last line of the 4th paragraph of this link http://www.theclassiccougarnetwork.com/tcc...at/dsgncat.html

I came across this bit of trivia in a mustang book last week (didn't buy the book).
