i guess i`m losing what i thought i knew as a i get older .. this must be a Q code mustang as it has the non shaker hood scoop . . i just looked at one on ebay that was an R code with the shaker hood .. but i thought the R code also included the drag pac option .. this r code did not have the oil cooler and has an open dif 3.50 gear .. was the drag pac option an option on top of the R code ? .. my 69 428 a hundred years ago had the shaker scoop , oil cooler and a 3;91 locker ..

i bought that car in 1976 for 250 bucks from the junkyard i worked at .. it was sitting next to a 351 automatic with a wiped out quarter panel that came in the same day .. my car had a bent front fender and bumper .. did`nt take much to total a muscle car back then. i fixed it with parts from another wrecked stang of the same color .. gulfstream aqua blue . . later i rebuilt the motor and hopped it up a great deal .. after about 6 months i sold it to a friend for 700 bucks .. a few years ago we were talking about that car and he said he never lost a race with it .. he later took the 428 and 4 speed out and put in a 6 cylinder and automatic .. the 428 went into a 72 maveric a friend of mine had .. i remember him racing a 440 road runner and beating it .. later the maveric crashed and i got the 428 motor back .. it sat at my house for a brief time and i sold it to a now fellow RCMC club member ( jan boggs ) for 100 bucks .. he says he still has a few parts of it .. i often wonder how hard it would be to track down a 69 428 r code mustang with a 6 banger motor in it .. i know the next guy who owned it but can not find him ..
