mid 13 in a 65 coupe

mid 13 in a 65 coupe

hey guys my son had a 65 coupe with a mild cam and he wants to run in m is 13's what does he need to do ( go with ) we have already change the auto ot a stock 4 speed and going to change the rear to 355 ,,,, what heads do you think,, what cam,, and intake ???,, trying to get 300 hp

At least the basic intake,carb,cam job...probablly a good idle to 5000rpm cam....maybe loose some weight....these things are so light, you dont need as much power as you would think.....mid 13 aint all that fast...but it is for these things....If you are in the market for heads...get AFRs.

good Fast shifts, good launches, sticky tires....pedal on the floor.

add in electronic ignition, ceramic coated headers and some Flowmasters.
I would not suggest just bolting on a bunch of things hoping it will work. You need to have a plan, using different formulas from boring the cylinders cams, crank, lifters etc.
If you bore the cylinders to one size you should match the amount of opening of the valves to match the volume of the cylinder...etc.
Check with an engine builder for the best combos.

right now it is 30 over and he has tri y headers ,, he is looking into a set of heads and cam,,,
