Thumbs up

Hello all!

I was just wondering if anyone can give me the correct application for Magnum 500's on the 69 Mach 1's. I was under the impression that the 15 inchers were only available on the Boss cars in 69 but there seems to be a lot of Mach 1's with these rims kicking around. Was it available as an option for them too?

What about for 1970 - I think you could get 14" Magnums that year on the Mach 1's...

Any words of wisdom appreciated! :worship:

The 14" chrome steel wheel was standard on the 69 Mach1, even on the big block cars. I don't believe the magnum was offered on the Mach, even as an option. The 15" magnum wheels (painted) were standard on the 69 Boss 302, while the 15" chrome magnums were optional (standard on the Boss 429).

The reason you see so many it that IMHO the 15" aftermarket chrome magnum wheel is the most popular add-on to classic Mustangs of all years.

Thanks Skorch!

You've confirmed what I read since posting the question. I also read that many Ford dealers offered the 15" Magnums as a dealer option when the cars were new. This would explain why many of the Mach 1's I see for sale list the Magnums as the "original rims" even though they are not. I wonder where all those chrome styled steel wheels and caps they took off ended up??? Hmmmn....

Cheers,
Allan

As you found, Magnums were not factory equipment on ANY 69-70 Mach I's. Yes, they are a popular "addition". I know a lot of people claim "dealer added" status to validate their use, but unless you have original dealer paperwork to prove it, they are simply an aftermarket add-on.
