Just something to think about. My favorite type of mod - CHEAP, easy, and subtle. Had several people just stand and stare trying to figure out what was different... B) (Of course, they do that a lot with my car - not sure if that's good or bad! )

After 3 days of sitting in the dust at Nashville, I started trying to clean the engine compartment. Of course, for a good cleaning, you unclip the wiring harnesses from the engine compartment and clean under them. One thing led to another, and I ended up with everything stripped from the walls, and repainted.

After some  and careful measurement, I determined that 75% of the wiring can be hidden in fenderwells with only 2 wires needing cut (the 2 small solenoid wires). Really pretty easy to do, and a WHOLE lot easier to keep clean now. Some good wire wrap is recommended to help protect the harnesses, but it's "easy stuff".

If you're in "the build stage", you can weld most of the holes closed. I got plastic plugs from the hardware store and painted the heads semi-flat black. Not noticable, and the harnesses can easily be put back stock later.

Moved the solenoid and headlight/fan relays up beside the radiator. If you wanted to go crazy, a cover would be easily fabbed, and the firewall wiring could be hidden also. I didn't want to work THAT hard...

Here's some pics - enjoy!

That's a really nice spot to put the solenoid. That was the one item to hide that I always

If I were starting from scratch, I'd put the relays under where the battery try mounted, and move the solenoid down as low as possible. Then, make a "quicky" cover for the top of the framerail that would hide all of it & that wiring also...

That looks great Bob!

I never really thought that would be that simple. I have also seen where someone used PVC pipe as a conduit in the fender well to protect the wiring.

After 5+ years, I had NEVER used the washers, so they were removed, along with the nozzles and hoses. Anything to eliminate clutter....

I know which one you speak of, but personally I never saw the need for conduit... unless you are doing some circle track driving on a dirt track

That really makes me want to hide all mine while I still have the engine all out. Did you just run along the inside of the frame rail or what? I can't really tell.

You actually run it pretty close to the stock location - just on the outside. In some places I actually used the stock harness retaining clip holes - pushed in from the outside.

Subtract 5 points for Failure to Maintain Washer Bag Configuration.

How are you getting them to the outside of the apron from the firewall plug?

Yup, best time to do it. If you have not sprayed the bay yet it's also a great time to fill all the unnecessary holes.

Drill a hole under the hood hinge (both sides). Comes back in thru the headlight harness holes.

Ahhh, I see now. I think I will definitely be doing this. I will also weld up any unnecessary holes too since I need to redo the bay anyway.

Yep, the hydraulic clutch is nice - no cable routing problems here!

Wow, that is a really clean wiring job. Looks great. I just finished custom rewiring my entire car. In the engine bay I used black flexible pvc tubing to cover all my wires, but it doesn't look as clean as yours does. Nice job

Thanks for the welcome! Blake pointed me over here after reading that thread. I'll drop Oz an e-mail. I think he would like this place. I'll also send an e-mail to 67sally (William). He used to be on SN & VMF but now mainly hangs on pro-touring.

I was telling Blake how funny it was that I just read a thread on VMF last week asking where cloney, jay, and emberglow went.
