Has anyone installed Fiero seats in their car?

Dumb luck fell on my lap last weekend and I scored a pair of 85' Fiero seats with the speakers built into the headrests for $70. To me this is ideal for a convertible with loud exhaust as opposed to playing with the volume **** at every red light. I'm now hunting for a shop to reskin them in vinyl (or leather if I can afford to do the back seat too) matching the stock type pattern.

I could swear I have heard and seen others talk about this conversion before so I'd like to hear any pitfalls or concerns from anyone that has if you care to chime in on the subject.

I had no idea you were a racist codeman (but I guess I should have known from the Bush Avatar ), what have you got against the Fiero? For an american 2 seat affordable mid engine sports car it was way ahead of it's time and got some acclaim from a variety of auto enthusiasts during it's short life span. I think more companies today should have some of the innovation this little car had more than 20 years ago. Not that anyone would be able to tell once they are skinned in a matching mustang vinyl and pattern but if anyone asks I will proudly say what the donor vehicle was. Here's just one example of a finished set out there already and it looks just as good as any modern seat I have seen. And unlike some of the most expensive ones out there, the seat height remians unchanged becasue of it's low to the floor design.

I see no reason to be ashamed of it like say someone who owns an old 30's Ford with a Chevy motor in it or destroys a nice classic with ricer type R badges or neon lighting should feel as just a few examples.

Think that looks great, and in much the same style of a '70 highback seat.

Thanks, that's what I thought too. And with the added benefit of nice side bolsters and speakers in the headrest all for $70 I don't see how I could possibly go wrong.

I wasn't trying to start anything...I have just always seen the Fiero as a "nice try" kind of vehicle...I mean...I commend Pontiac for attemping to do what they did...I just dont think they pulled it off very well. Thats all. Just my opinion. I wasnt old enough to understand what Fiero's were wback when they were new, so I guess I may be just a bit ignorant about them as well...but that pic looks good.

Well, if you don't want to shop around and wait to score a deal or nose thru the junkyard you can get a set at www.kickhill.com and you can get custom leather seat covers at www.mrmikes.com they even have downloads of all the wiring diagrams and what not to hook things up.

I finally got around to recovering these seats this weekend so I thought I would dig up this old thread and update it with some pictures. I have to say that Mr. Mikes did an awesome job on this custom order for me. He used a very nice quality Leatherette on them and did a great job matching the 2 stock grains to the original stock seats. I have a few wrinkles to iron out still but I hope to have them installed by end of next week. For a total investment of $472 plus about 4 hours of my time it was hundreds less than a typical Scat Procar type of set up and looks way better I think.

If I could find a gorram Fiero in the 'yards to take the seats from, I would in a heartbeat. Those links are nice, but I'm building the II on the cheap lol

edit: stupid internet!

I forgot to mention, recovered, they look great

I actually didn't have to replace the speakers because they had brand new Alpines in them when I got them that sounded great.

BTW Bob, you obviously have no idea how Codeman has his car set up or you would realize the tongue in cheek in that old remark from the past. I realize a 2 inch long signature can be alot of reading but get your facts straight before you pretend to be Roget Thesaurus. Heck, it used to read under carriage neon light kit as well.

I wasn't razzing you for it bud, just making a point to bob was all. I thought it strange that with all the stuff on this page he got out the microscope on that one sentance, put on his red cape and came charging in defense of original vs. modified like some type of restomod bullies have been beating him up in front of the girls locker room every day and he suddenly felt the need to make an issue where absolutely none existed.
