Gauge in ac vent in 69

I'm talking about the circular vents on the bottom part of the dash. I removed the ac because all the ductwork was trashed and the ac itself was no longer in working shape. I really don't mind not having ac..

I'm just wondering if anyone has put a gauge there and what size is best to fit there.

Thanks!!

one generally wants gauges set in the normal driving line of site .. if you have to look down to see a gauge you lose site of the road ..

What's funny is that some of the 69-70 shelbys came with two gauge housings built into the center console top plate which is lower than I would be looking.

Anyway, I've decided I'm just gonna have a cover made to fill the hole and use the a-pillar gauge pod which will give me 2 gauge holes and still be in line of site.
