End to another year
Well the time has come to put the stang to sleep for another winter. Took my last drive Sat. and put her to bed last night
I hope that you guys who can drive your car all year long post some good pics, and maybe a video or two of some nice sounding Stang exhaust notes while I wait
April now cannot come soon enough. I think over the winter I am going to take off the bumpers and have them re-chromed. Other than that no rwal plans for the car while it's tucked away in the garage. Just ranting ....

There's always a bright side, some of us had no season this year.
BTW, you do know that new bumpers are way cheaper than re-chroming, right? If I was going to rechrome I would at least eliminate all the bolts and snug it up nice and custom first.

Yeah I feel for you. Not being able to drive cuz of someone elses mistake would be torture. Far worse than putting a car up cuz of weather reasons. How long till your car is back on the road Pak any timeframe?
As far as bumpers go. I know that buying repros is cheaper, but....How do they compare to having the ones on my car rechromed? Do they hold up well? or after a year or so will they start to peel. I've been told that is a problem with repros. Anyone have or know about these bumpers?

My car will be ready in 5 to 6 weeks.
It'll probably get too cold for me to put it back together before the spring but so long as it's home I'll be happy.
Well, first off, do you know for a fact you still have the original bumpers on your car? I thought mine were but when I took the damaged rear piece off I found a made in Taiwan sticker. The front was stock and honestly the only difference was that the raw edge hidden on the inside had a smoother edge than the repro, that was it, well, the repro might have been like a half of a millimeter thineer gauge, barely noticable and again only from the inside. Unless yuo are doing a concours restoration I would honestly not think twice about it. Mine was at least a 10 year old repro and even after being bent in half the chrome was finish was not compromised at all.
Even if yours are original, personally for a driver car I'd rather sell them to someone for big bucks trying to do a concours car and put the repro's on my own car. If you want I'll take a pic of my damaged Taiwan bumper so you can see how well it held up in the accident.

I totally agree on the repro route too. For a driver, the cheapie repros are pretty darn good.
Well that does it than. I guess i'll get a set of bumpers fromNPD over the winter. And congrats on having the car back in your garage in 5-6 weeks. IT will make all the difference to be able to see the thing, whether it be driveable or not. I'd like to see a pic of how that repro bumper held up. I know for a pair it's like 150 or so??? Not too bad.
I live in South Bend, IN...it was 72 yesterday and today.... probably drove 200 miles this past week... I think I still have a few good weeks as long as the rain stays away.

Where exactly are you in Wisconsin? I live in suburb of Milwaukee and weather here is pretty good, I still don't have to drive my truck.

Don't know if this happens to any of you. But now that my car is tucked away in the garage with a cover over it I just can't get enough of lookin at pics of stangs on the internet. I'll spend over an hr. the past few days, looking at stangs for sale on ebay, and other classic sites. I think now my car is put away i'm getting buyers itch again. I really want a 65 fastback for myself and let my girlfriend drive my coupe. We'll see where that takes me over the winter. I found this car only 30 min. from my house. Looks pretty nice but not exactly what i'm looking for.

Look forward to the pic.
Yup, crawled under my baby and coated all the bare metal with Eastmans rust inhibitor (black) on Saturday - last good day for paint to cure. I think I'm pretty much done working on the good Mustang. If the temps kick up I may start to remove the rear axle out of the donor car. That garage floor gets awfully cold in Michigan during late fall and winter days.
