does anybody know if you could put the rack and pinion unit from the marquis on my 66 stang w/o that much of a problem? my brother in law ran up on one in good shape for cheap. Also he thinks that i could use the rearend and use the bucket seats out of it.

Doubtful, the R&P question is a well-used and divisive issue. Most of the successful aftermarket racks use the GM J-car rack.

that's what the j car rack is. i have also seen a dodge cravan rack used and a couple of taurus racks as well. but the j-car seems to be about the best.

check out www.randallsrack.com and www.speeddirect.com as both of these companies use the j car rack

There's also a Saab rack being used across the pond. But to get at the original question I don't see it working, is it even a rear stear setup? You would have to graft the whole front suspension on to make it work. Not worth the effort to get R&P.

Randallsrack seems to have a lot of fans. As far as an "off the shelf" rack, there isn't one that doesn't have some drawbacks and/or fabrication required.

If you're not 100% sure/capable of doing this, your steering is NOT a good place to experiment...
