Santa Claus came early this year, from two directions.

I like to stumble around through the back woods in north Texas and look for unique cars to dig up, purchase, clean up and put on Ebay. I really enjoy passing along a neat find for a couple of hundred bucks and learn that one of my cars has made it into someones garage in preparation for restoration. I love original cars and specifically have a passion for Mustangs.
A few weeks back, I heard about a 1967 Bronco located in a remote community near Greenville, Texas. I made the trip and surprisingly enough, a great guy showed me around his place and then took me to his unfinished Bronco, which actually turned out to be a 66, even better! We made a deal. A week later I went and picked it up with a trailer and this guy asks if I may be interested in a 67 Mustang that a friend of his bought new in Dallas? I told him that I wanted to take a look at the car when he had time. He said sure.....it's behind the shop.
Well, I had no clue what I was looking at but I knew something was different about this car, due to the lengthy DSO code. (615160) I plugged the number in my browser when I made it home and realized that this is a special car. A true Lone Star Limited Mustang, commonly referred to as a Bluebonnet Special, was sitting behind a building, for the most part in total rust free condition, 100% original, with the original black and white Texas title. I bought the car.
Learning that this car was supplied with a Texas shaped badge at the dealerships, with the words "Lone Star Limited" and a pony running......I began the impossible task of trying to locate a pair of original badges in any condition for my pony.
Then Santa came again, he must be a Mustang fan! I honestly believe that the sleigh is powered by a 429 Super Cobra Jet engine and the reindeer are simply running to get out of the way!
Thanks to Dan Hughmanick in Pennsylvania, www.limited600mustang.com ,I learned that he had an original set of badges in new condition, still covered in plastic. Don offered to sell me the badges for peanuts. I had him ship them and received them last week!
I'm going to begin the restoration this spring. So Ho Ho Ho and Merry Chistmas .......what a great find! So if you don't believe that there are still some rare Mustangs out there to be found, and you don't believe in Santa Claus......it's time to grow up! hahaha
Type in "Bluebonnet Special" in your browser to learn more about this car and read the Mustang Monthly article, also visit Don's website!
Merry Christmas everyone!
