Our state would rather have overside cookie-cutter SUVs than classic cars... its probably more of a ploy to just get more money out of us through our cars.

The way I understand it is that it will require any car 1976 and NEWER to go through testing. Correct? If the car is well maintain, as most collector cars are, then there shouldn't be a problem passing it. Besides, from what I've heard from people that actually live there, it isn't all that hard to pass anyway. You just have to hold on to the factory smog equipment so it can be put back on for testing.

I do understand everyone's complaints. I'm just providing a little light.

Whoever told you it isn't hard to pass is high as a kite.

The real problem is that THIS version gives them the power to "bring back" testing for 75 and older vehicles. Even though for the past 7+ years these have been labled "exempt" from testing. How many non-stck classic stangs do you think would pass testing? I'll tell you, NONE. None of us would pass the visual alone. Especially those of us who did a 6 to 8 swap.

The real kicker is that it will not affect the polluting vehicles. People own old cars for 2 rasons: 1. they want to, 2. they can't afford new. In case 1 the cars are usually well maintained. In case 2 they can't afford to maintain them. However, in case 2 when they fail the smog test they either ditch the car and buy another clunker, or THEY GET A WAIVER MONEY FROM THE STATE (ME!!!!!) to fix it, or they GET A WAIVER allowing them to pollute until their next smog check (2 years).

I must have missed where it said that. Sorry.

I do agree though that it is ridiculous and I'm glad I don't live there. Even the beautiful year-round weather isn't enough payment. B)
