Exclamation Brake in!

So....some thieves broke into my wife's Mariner last night.(parked in our driveway)...all they stole was a few quarters from the ashtray, and THE KEYS TO MY MUSTANG!!!!! I had them in there so that if there was ever a nice day while I was out at my folk's house (where it is stored for the time being) I could take it for a spin...Well....now that idea is out the window! The wost part is...I lost my spares about a year ago and that was my only set. Now what do I do? I have no fear of them stealing it cause it is 15 miles away and the battery is dead, but do i need to have a locksmith come out? how much will that cost?...I need all three keys too...the ignition, doors, and trunk are seperate keys....I hope they dont come back...its pretty scary to know that someone has been to your house...

Since its a 65 than you can probably get a new lock set for cheap or you will need a locksmith or to find other keys

Oh my god Cody, thats absolutely terrible. knowing your security is compromised like that is far worse than just losing keys...

Is the Mariner damaged at all?

I dunno how helpful a locksmith will be, but I know there are replacement key and lock sets. Whichever route you go, make sure theres a set or two of spares...

good luck buddy, i'm really sorry to see this happen

no damage to the Mariner....she must have left the doors unlocked...My taurus's doors were locked and nothing was missing from it...most notably my laptop computer!...I'll be bringing it in tonight for good measure.

If you're talking about the new Taurus, yes, that thing is hella sweet.

Sucks about the break-in, but it could've been a lot worse. You're out less than an insurance deductible and have to put up w/ some inconvenience.

Good luck getting everything taken care of.

Sounds like some neighborhood kids. Ask around and offer a fiver for the keys back, no questions asked. Then when they bring the keys back.

ok...so I have my new locks on the way....one question....How do i replace them?...I guess the one I'm most concerned about is the trunk...there is no remote release so will I have to "bust in" or is it not a problem to take out the lock while it is engaged?...my doors are unlocked so it shouldnt be a problem...is there any way i can take the back seat out and get my trunk opened from inside?

Popping out the back seat should be easy if I remember right I dont think you even need a screw driver. Pull out and up on the bottom bench kinda like a hide a bed. you might be able to get with just that done.

Sorry to hear about you break in. That sure is a drag when crap like that happens.

Horribly 'borrowed' from another forum, and pretty much what I thought it would take, but had to double check anyway- http://www.mustangforums.com/m_3052681/tm.htm
I hope that helps.

so after getting the lock cylinders in and starring at the ignition cylinder for a few days...I called a locksmith. for 90 bucks he changed it out....so I got in, and started it up for the first time since late October...started right up to! (after a night on the battery charger)...but yeah...a load of my shoulders and now I can take my time changing the others myself....now it needs an oil change, top off of fluids, a bath, and then I can take it out for a drive...And to its new home!
