Automatic question

Hello All,

Well this might be a funny question, but anyway....

I have a 65 convertible with an automatic. The question is....which drive do I drive in?

One looks like a O and the other looks like a filled in small o. I am guessing one is over drive and the other is drive.

The filled in one (o) is above the not filled in one (O).

What is the difference and witch one do I use for normal driving?

Thank you.

not a funny question at all...this tansmission is funny....

the one you normally drive in is the "dot gear".... however....the circle "O" acts kind of like a shift kit...it will automatically shift more readily through all three gears as you accelerate or decelerate....so you could drive in "O" all the time if you wanted....(its probably a better decision to if you drive it hard.) but if you stay in "dot gear" the car will never shift into first gear...and will stay in second, then shift to third....If you put the car in "L"...the car will not shift out of first, and you must shift it into either "O" or "dot."

The cool thing about "O" is that you can just slide the shifter into "dot" at any time and vice versa. hope this helps!

there is no such thing as overdrive in the C-4
