Anybody catch 'Chasing Classic Cars' tonite?
Wow....one of the featured cars was a barn find, all original '66 GT350 carryover....extremely rare, and it had racing history. As you probably know the regular production '66 GT350's were softened up and made more streetable. However, a carryover is a '65 sold as a '66, so it has all the underpinnings and trim of a '65 (suspension, gauge pod, rear seat delete) but with '66 trim such as the 1/4 window glass and side scoops.
The original owner who died several years ago had it stored for the last 40 years and his sister didn't even know where the car was until a few years ago. It had no top stripes and was in need of a complete restoration. It came with lots of spare parts such as NOS rocker stripes, fenders, doors and quarters.
It was offered by Bonham Auctions at no reserve with a catalog value estimate of $85K-$120K. It hammered at $145,000.
