Ammeter vs voltmeter swap out

Has anybody replaced the stock 66 5 gauge ammeter with a voltmeter? If so what dial will fit?

I have an aftermarket ammeter. I much prefer it over a voltmeter as it is an active gauge that lets you know how well your electrical system is charging. I have a 3 gauge cluster.

sorry this doesn't help your actual question.

Thank you for responding anyway. At least i know after market dials are about. Trouble is AAW loom do not recommend the use of ammeters. So i now have a task to find a voltmeter in its place. I will keep looking and hoping.

A 2-1/16" gauge will fit correctly. See the link below for alternate gauge options offered by Mustang Depot. I recently used one of their kits to build a custom cluster for my '67 coupe.

Hi
Thanks for the response, i will look into the dash but i was tryin to keep it as close to original as possible. I have seen there are tacho's that size that i may put in its place. Next to the speedo it would be perfect to. The AAW kit supports the tacho as well if i want or the voltmeter. i have two options to consider so far.

Classic Instruments makes a gauge cluster that includes volts, oil, water temp, fuel, and odometer in the speedo. They also have a speedo/tach gauge which is pretty cool. Very pricey though.

I have seen the new dials and the look sweet i must admit the cost as you say is a bit much. There is one guy who converts ameter to volts using your original dial. I have changed my phone n lost the bookmark so i cant follow that up or find his details again. There must be somebody out there who has changed it over!

try Redline Gauge Works. A friend got the ammeter converted to a voltmeter on his Dodge and it looks completely stock, same font for the lettering and everything!
