Anybody have a good write-up on adding torque boxes - especially to a car that's already Painted & assembled???
Nothing in this modification affects any painted surfaces (rockers, etc), correct???

Ah, the things you didn't think of 10 years ago..... :bang:

Don’t have a write-up, but did add TB’s to my FB

YES you can do it without the need for bodywork, provided you remove your fenders first Installation is fairly easy and requires a slit to be cut where the side cowl panel meets the floor board. And a little creativity in dealing wth the flange that is supposed to overlap the front frame rail (I removed mine).

Here’s a link to my pages showing a couple pics

Can you install 68 coupe/fastback torque boxes on your car? If they fit, it shouldn't be a big deal. When installing them on an early convertible you often times have to split them and reweld them after they're in place. In order to do that, you have to have the toeboard out. But that may be unnecessary on a non-convertible TB since the inner rocker wouldn't be in the way. Here's a picture of mine.

You'd have to make sure you don't get it too hot when you weld. You'll be close to the rocker and could burn the paint, but otherwise, I think you'd be ok.
