'69 Tach Cluster Fuel Gauge

Had various std. clusters in this car back in the 80's before I put this Tach Cluster in and the Fuel Gauge always read what I would consider "Normal" ... when FULL, it went past "F" a bit, and before actually running out of gas you could get needle past "E".

After I put this Tach Cluster in, it always seemed that maybe this gauge was slightly off ... vaugly remember running out of gas once when needle was maybe on "E" some 22 years ago when I used to drive it all summer !! Well, I finally bought a new sender from CJ Pony a while back and finally got a chance to "test" gauge. Take a look at the pics ...

Ignition "OFF" ...

New Sender (out of tank), float at EMPTY end ...

It almost seems to act normal with this new sender ... maybe just a little too past "F" when FULL. However, when comparing to another identical Tach Cluster that I have, the needle with ignition OFF is actually further past "E" on gauge in car than on this spare cluster. So if I were to adjust needle toward "E" a bit to get the action I desire, needle may almost be out of "the box" with ignition OFF.

If any of you have messed around with a '69 or 70 dash, you know why I'm looking for OTHER opinions on this before tearing into dash to adjust gauge. Back in the day, I probably dismantled the dash of this car for one reason or another once or twice a summer ... probably got it down to 1-2 hours tops. Today, I'm 20+ years older and so is all that plastic (that gets brittle with age) ... I'm guessing an afternoon project at minimum today !!

Here's 2 more pics of the baby ...

When I fill my 67 up it usually goes past the F on my fuel gauge.
