i am going to complete replace every wire in my 69 fastback. i am looking at either the Painless wiring for 67-69 mustangs which is about $600 or get the Painless universal harness and go that way which is a lot cheaper.

anyone have any experience with any of these harnesses? if so are they good for my car? semi-easy install? any pointers or tips before i do this?

I'm going with the generic kit myself. I am about to do the same thing as you.

however, the last I looked, there wasn't a kit for our year. Hard to believe that the price difference is worth it to me. Just a few extra splices and such to attatch the old connectors.

I promised the wife not buy anything until after christmas, then I will take the wiring plunge.

i am missing almost all the front lighting harness. i made one myself but i wanted something neater. if i use the universal harness, i just use all the OEM connectors and then splice the Painless into that and then run them to the corresponding component? sound about right?

You can splice original connectors onto the harness or use updated connectors spliced onto the original parts... like GM weatherpacks for example. Universal gives you a lot more options and the ability to make things alot neater by hiding the wiring better.
