69/70 mach 1 side vents near rear wheel wells

Can someone explain why some 1969 1970 mustang Mach 1 have vents near the rear fenders and some don't. I've been looking at possibly buying a Mach 1 in the future and am just trying to figure out why some have the vents and some don't. Was it an option? Are the ones without the vents not true Mach 1? Just curious any feedback advice would be greatly appreciated

Ford kept the Mach 1 alive into 1970 and little changed other than the visuals. The 1970 body included dual-beam headlights with the previous inner headlights becoming sport lamps and recessed taillights on a black honeycomb rear panel, side scoops behind both doors removed, revised bucket seats, deep dish sports wheel covers, as well as new side and rear badging and striping were the main visual differences.

some 1970 Mustang models had side scoops... think there was 856 of them, shared some special stuff along with two cougars and a torino

EDIT- my bad... recalled reading the 70 boss429s were actually left over 69s- but guess they were just talking about the engines...
