68 Mustang Radio
#1
Well, everything on my car is original atm. But I'm thinking seriously about going over and kicking dad in the butt for not getting the AF/FM radio so I could use one of those FM Transmitters with the MP3 player I have.
So at any rate, Kansas Cities AM radio is quite lacking to say the least, and I'd like a litte FM variety. If I change the original radio to AM/FM origianl type it still won't match the order sheet, invoice, etc. So I'm thinking of just getting a NON-Factory style radio and just retaining the original AM in case I ever part with it (which should be around death). At any rate, I do not intend to ever show the car though if I do I can always put the AM back in.
So my question:
I'm seeing in different catalogs radios that claim to fit with no cutting that have a CD player built it.
Anyone with their dash apart can tell me if a CD will fit in the dash hole.
It just doesn't seem possible but I havn't taken my radio out yet.

You have three options.
1. Custom Autosound sells a system that fits in your bezel. CD is through a changer in the trunk. Looks stock but sounds bad and is expensive.
2. Buy a radio bezel off ebay and cut it to a din opening and install what you want.
3. Put a din radio in the glove box and leave the AM in the dash. Buy a remote extender and use the remote with the glove box door closed.
I'm doing option three with a used headunit, kick panel speakers, and rear shelf speakers. Total outlay is only about $200 through savvy ebay shopping.

I have a head unit in my glove box--alpine--with a hard wired plug that comes out the back of the glove box and down and comes out under the factory air. I can plug in my iPod to the plug and have MP3's without a FM transmitter. The head was 130 and the adapter for the aux was 20.
Easy, easy, easy. No one knows the radio is there as I have the AM in the dash and can hide the plug in a heartbeat.

http://www.the-direct-source.com has the bolt-in 67/68 DIN radio and bezel combo's. Keep your original AM and bezel to go back...
They also have the "secret-audio" setups for glovebox or trunk mount.

Took my entire dash apart today for repainting and such. Decided, I will never have the time or money to make this a show car, so I'm just gonna get a radio with a CD and or CD/MP3 player in it and retain the original AM with Bezel for safekeeping.
Anyone seen any good in dash CD/MP3 players that come with the adjusted bezels?

Seen CD players that come with the adjusted/modded bezels like the one above. Click Here
Just havn't found any like this with MP3 capability.

at least the 67/68 bezels lookpretty good. the 69/70 bezels look like POO, just plain old ABS plastic with noe of the chrome trim or anything and the still want 10 bucks for them. i paid 25 for a brand new repro bezel with the woodgrain, i would rather hack it up to fit a cd player than buy that other piece of junk.
