68 Mustang Question
#1
Hey Guys
I need a few questions answered. Does anyone know the difference in the standard and deluxe packages on a 68 convertible. Also, anyone know how many 289's were produced that year??
Thanks in advance! B)

For 2-barrel engines, 289's and 302's were both used in 68, even somewhat interchangably at times; varying with supply. All 4V cars were 302's.
Standard vs deluxe? Are you talking about the interior decor group? or the Sprint package?
I'll assume "interior decor group", which was mainly woodgrain appliques, different upholstery, and different door panels, IIRC.
You might see if www.1968mustang.org has any more info, or post any more (specific) questions here.

I've never seen a firm production figure. I have seen planty of both engines in 68's, so neither was "rare" or anything. It's also well documented that Ford even built 289's in 302 blocks during the year as supplies ran short.
